A surprise fee when changing money
Before flying to Turkey, Enis wants to buy some lira at the bureau de change in the station. The rate on the board looks good – but then there is a "Gebühr" (fee).

Language note
False friend: aktuell means current or up to date. Der aktuelle Kurs is today's rate, not the "actual" one (actual = tatsächlich). And günstig (cheap, good value) is a friendlier word than billig, which can also suggest poor quality. Note also in die Türkei: a few country names take an article (die Türkei, die Schweiz, die USA), so you fly in die Türkei but nach Deutschland.
Culture note
German banks often supply foreign currency only if you order it a few days in advance; to change money on the spot, people go to the bureaux de change at stations and airports, which may charge a Gebühr. Two questions before the transaction protect your wallet: Wie hoch ist die Gebühr? and Was bekomme ich insgesamt?
